Dr. von Schroeder is a Hand Surgeon at The University of Toronto Hand Program and the Medical Director at Altum Hand and Wrist Specialty Clinic at Toronto Western Hospital, University Health Network.
He obtained his medical training at UBC, his Orthopaedic surgery training at UofT, and his Hand fellowships at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (Toronto) and the Kleinert Institute (Louisville, KY). He holds a Certificate for Added Qualification in Hand Surgery from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. His research training was at the University California, San Diego and U of Toronto.
Dr. von Schroeder’s research interests include the biology of scaphoid fracture non-unions, osteoarthritis and tendon inflammation and healing. His research has focussed on bone and tendon cell biology, as well as intercellular interactions between osteoblasts and vascular cells. His lab is at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. His clinical subspecialty interests include trauma and arthritis of the wrist.
